The Roanoke Rapids Police Department will begin Coffee with a Cop Wednesday at Oscar’s Restaurant on West Tenth Street.

The time is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members we serve together — over coffee — to discuss issues and learn more about each other,” Chief Bobby Martin said. “A cup of coffee is a common bond and it can help officers build better relationships with the communities we serve.”

There is no agenda to the program — “Just informal conversations about what matters to community residents,” Martin said.

Martin said the department will be reaching out to other locations to continue this endeavor.
