The Weldon Police Department is investigating a vehicle break-in in which a purse with several credit cards and cash was taken.

Chief Christopher Davis said the cards have since been used at retail locations in Roanoke Rapids and Rocky Mount.

Davis said he responded to a call Thursday in the 800 block of Country Club Road that a vehicle had been broken into. The call came in at around 3 p.m.

Davis observed the rear passenger vehicle window had been broken out. He also determined the crime occurred around 1:15 p.m.

The police chief said by the time the B&E was discovered, the credit cards had already been used.

The vehicle used by the suspect or suspects has a small dent in the right rear quarter panel.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
