The town of Littleton will perform water testing Friday after a boil advisory was issued Wednesday.

The town said it hopes to have results by the end of the day. The town will continue to test until it receives clear results.

Residents are advised to continue boiling all water used for human consumption including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation or use bottled water.

Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.

Water customers “are strongly urged” to conserve water whenever possible.

The advisory is necessary after a fire hydrant was hit by a vehicle causing it to break from the main and drain the elevated storage tank Wednesday afternoon.

The elevated tank drained completely within 30 minutes after the line break.
