One man was cited for traffic infractions Wednesday and another for possessing a stolen firearm as well as several outstanding warrants, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Lieutenant Shane Guyant said Corporal A. Holt was patrolling in the West Tenth Street area of Roanoke Rapids when the driver of a Honda passed him in a manner that aroused suspicion.

Holt determined the license tag was inactive and stopped the vehicle driven by Marquis Boone on Gray Street. Boone, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, was cited for not having an active license and registration.

The passenger, 25-year-old Travon Tyrick Robinson, had two outstanding orders for arrest from Halifax County — one for missing court in 2022 for resisting arrest and the other from 2021 for driving while license revoked. He also has an outstanding criminal summons from Guilford County for misdemeanor larceny and an outstanding warrant from Halifax County from 2022 for injury to personal property.

Guyant said upon the arrest of the Roanoke Rapids man, Robinson admitted to having a firearm which was located under the passenger seat. Holt discovered the weapon had been stolen from Roanoke Rapids in 2021, which led to further charges of felony possession of a stolen weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

Robinson received an $8,000 bond and April 27 court date.
