One man has been arrested and charged in the April 26 shooting death of a Chesapeake man and another is being sought for events that occurred after the man’s death.

Lieutenant Shane Guyant of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said 41-year-old Robin Lee Jeffrey was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Desmond Sloan which occurred in the Kincaid Drive area of Roanoke Rapids.

Guyant said investigators are also looking for Javon “Woo-Woo” Antonio Sessons who faces a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon, a charge he said is “related to events that occurred after the homicide of Sloan.”

The arrest warrant for Sessions says on April 26 he possessed a handgun and had been previously convicted for felony breaking and entering.

Guyant declined to elaborate on the events that occurred following the shooting death as well as the relationship between Jeffrey and Sessons to the victim. He also declined to comment on why Sloan was in the Kincaid Drive area of Roanoke Rapids and the circumstances which led to his death.

The lieutenant did describe Jeffrey and the 28-year-old Sessons as being “very familiar” with one another.

Jeffrey, of Roanoke Rapids, was jailed without the opportunity for bond and has a May 24 court date.

Sessons, of Roanoke Rapids, is known to frequent areas of Carolina Rest Home and Highway 48.

Guyant said more arrests are possible and that investigators continue to “follow productive leads.”

The sheriff’s office said at the time deputies responded to the area of Kincaid Drive and Ted Court off Highway 48 around 4:45 p.m. after receiving a call of a shooting.

Deputies found Sloan, 37, deceased in the front seat of an SUV.

Anyone with further information on the shooting death or whereabouts of Sessons is encouraged to contact Crimestoppers at this link
