A Scotland Neck man was charged with violating a domestic violence protective order Sunday after the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the victim.

The victim was not harmed, Captain Scott Hall said.

Corporal R. Chin responded to the area of Highway 258 just outside of Scotland Neck.

Hall said the corporal learned the suspect was Albert Williams Jr., 51, and that a protective order was in place.

Further investigation led Chin and Sergeant E. Richardson to check surrounding areas where Williams was located. He ran away and Chim used his dog Duri to track Williams, who was found hiding in a thick wooded area off Phillips Road.

Williams was charged with violating the order and jailed without the opportunity for bond. He has a December 5 district court date.
