The Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau received the Platinum Marketing Achievement Award for Community Stakeholders during the 2023 Tourism Leadership Conference.

“We are honored to be recognized by our peers with this prestigious award,” said Lori Medlin, President & CEO of the Halifax County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Our team works hard every day to tell Halifax County’s stories. We are proud of our organization and its successes. We do this work for its impact on our community, not for awards. But it lets us know we are working in the right direction to be honored by our peers.”

The North Carolina Travel Industry Association held its annual meeting in Raleigh last week. “The conference was full of dynamic and informative sessions, marketing updates, policy and politics discussions, organizational business, fellowship, and celebration,” Medlin said.

This year’s agenda included a marketing update by Wit Tuttell, executive director of Visit North Carolina; a legislative session update by Brian Lewis and Skye David, NCTIA lobbyists; and a plenary session called AI for the Travel Industry —Transform for the Digital Age by technology specialist Jim Spellos.

The NCTIA conference wrapped up the conference with its annual awards dinner celebration.

At the annual conference, NCTIA presents its Tourism Achievement Awards to honor and showcase innovation, best practices, creativity, and results accomplished through our industry’s attraction-level and destination-level marketing efforts.
