The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a suspicious death investigation after a 46-year-old man was found deceased in the 500 block of Little Deep Creek Road Friday morning.

Captain Scott Hall said Christoipher Deloatch was found in the backyard of the residence.

Asked whether there were any signs of wounds or other trauma, Hall said the sheriff’s office continues to investigate and is awaiting an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.

Deputies responded around 11 a.m. after receiving a call of a man appearing to be deceased.

Deloatch had last been seen on Thursday around 6 p.m. and was located by a family member Friday prior to deputies being contacted.

Hall said Deloatch had no known health issues.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Lieutenant R. Somogyi at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
