Roanoke Valley law enforcement reported the following

Major Anzell M. Harris reported that on Saturday shortly before midnight in Enfield Deputy K. Taylor observed a man later identified as 41-year-old Tony Johnson commit a motor vehicle violation.
Taylor stopped the vehicle in a convenience store parking lot in the town limits.

Taylor smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a search ensued.
During the search, Taylor seized nine packs of Stoneos, an Oreo-type cookie containing 500 mg of THC; two packs of Cap N’ Crunch Crunch Berries containing 400 mg of THC; 25 grams of marijuana and a concealed handgun.
Johnson, of Enfield, was arrested and charged with felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver schedule VI controlled substance, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, simple possession of schedule VI controlled substance, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed gun.
He received a $25,000 bond and was scheduled for a district court appearance today.
Roanoke Rapids Police Department
Chief Shane Guyant reported that on July 19 around 8 p.m. Lieutenant M. Hunsucker and Officer P. Dueitt responded to a residence in the Highway 158 and Webb Hill Road area after receiving a call of a breaking and entering involving Jason Keith Alston, 35.
Officers learned Alston, the ex-boyfriend of the victim, broke into the residence and destroyed items. The victim was not home.
A witness provided a positive identification of Alston.
Later that night around 10:30, officers responded to the scene again after a report that Alston was actively breaking into the residence.
Alston fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival.

Warrants were obtained for Alston who had surrendered to the sheriff’s office Friday afternoon.
He was charged with first-degree burglary, felony breaking and entering and felony larceny.
Alston was jailed without the opportunity for bond due to the first-degree burglary charge and has an August 29 district court date.
