Geraldine “Deanie” Brown Smith, 82, of Littleton, NC, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

“Deanie” was born in Halifax County, to the late, Robert Franklin and Eunice Alma Hasty Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Earl Smith in 2018 and three sister’s Dorothy Brown France, Barbara Brown Garner and Peggy Brown Welch.

She was a 1955 Graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School.

Surviving are her two sons, James Mark Smith and his wife, Polly, and Richard Earl Smith and wife, Kathryn, both of Raleigh, NC; her brother, Robert F. Brown, Jr and his wife, Triss of Roanoke Rapids, NC; her grandchildren, James Grant, Sloan Ashleigh, Gabriella Rose, Mary Camille, Justin Alexander, Rachel Lauren, and Hannah Grace.

The family will receive friends at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services, 731 Roanoke Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 1-2pm. A funeral service will be held immediately after the visitation at 2 P.M in the Chapel with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery at 489 Smith Church Rd., Roanoke Rapids, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made, in honor of “Deanie”, to the Warren County Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 103 Macon, NC 27551
