Ryan Thomas Barrett, 22 was carried home by His Father on Friday, October 25, 2018.

Ryan Barrett Pic for Obituary

Ryan was born January 30, 1996 to Thomas and Jodie Barrett.  He was a 2014 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, NC.

He was employed by Lee Electrical as an apprentice lineman, where he quickly fell in love with the work he was given and wanted nothing more than to help others.  In the days following Hurricane Florence he was ready to help restore power to those affected by the storm’s devastation. He never complained and was excited to do the same for those impacted by Hurricane Michael.

Ryan valued time with his family and friends and would often travel long distances after work to be with them.

He developed a love for golf, playing the game alongside his dad and grandfather, from the age of three at Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon, NC.  He enjoyed spending countless hours on the golf course with those who loved him and the sport. Ryan was a member of Galatia Hunt Club, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed his hunting dogs, and spending time at his Papa’s farm in Northampton County.

Ryan was kind and caring and had a smile that lit up his entire being and the room.  He had a grin that made you want to smile back whether you felt like it or not.  He had a servant's heart and was a good man who cared for his fellow man.

That memory and many others will be cherished by his parents, Thomas (Jr.) and Jodie Barrett of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his sister and her husband, Lauren and Dylan Eckley of Jacksonville, NC; paternal grandparents, Thomas (Sr.) and Myra Barrett of Seaboard, NC; paternal great grandmother, Louella Arthur of Roanoke Rapids, NC; maternal grandparents Randy and Diane Whichard of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Marsha Tegl of Gaston, NC. Ryan also leaves behind a large and loving extended family and circle of friends.
