Maggie Ruth Lee "Rookie" Harris

February 25, 1925 — August 1, 2025

Ruth Lee "Rookie" Harris passed away peacefully at her home in Roanoke Rapids on Friday August 1, 2025. She was 100 years old.

Rookie was born to the late Jesse David Lee and Helen Cooper Lee on February 25, 1925.

Rookie was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Rookie was a member of Rosemary Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and was passionate about her flower garden.

Rookie was preceded in death by her husband Paul T. "Baldy" Harris.

Left to cherish her memory is her Daughter Kay Lee (Richard) of Winston Salem, Son Mark Harris of Roanoke Rapids, Grandson David Lee (Ashleigh) of High Point, Granddaughters Jamie Harris and Kennedy Harris Weber (Kyle) all of Summerville S.C. Great Granddaughters Nova Lee and Aurora Lee of High Point, and a Very Special Friend Mary Ann Jones "Jonsee" of Roanoke Rapids.

The family would like to Thank Gentiva Hospice for the Top Notch Care they provided for Rookie with Special Thanks to Hospice Nurse Jamie Leigh.

Heart Felt appreciation goes out to Sandra Stephenson, Bonnie Beckelman, and Beverly Norman for the Love and Compassion they had for Rookie. 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
