It is with great sorrow that the family announces Philip Franklin McCauley, Sr., 73, has entered his Eternal Rest.

Philip was born in Olney, Maryland, on May 18, 1952, to the late Blaine McCauley Sr. and Stella Reynolds, and his life was full of love and adventure.

He had an array of things he enjoyed throughout his lifetime, some of which were fishing, putting model cars together, playing Zelda on the Nintendo, astronomy, and mastering chess and checkers.

Philip loved to work with his hands and worked on cars as a mechanic for most of his life. He loved older model cars, especially his favorite car, a red ’57 Chevy.

He spent a decade of his life as a handyman for Mr. Zentz in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and worked for Shoney’s for almost a decade.

Philip was also considered a jack-of-all-trades; he was a great handyman.

Philip enjoyed television, and would spend time watching the Discovery Channel, History Channel, and Sci-Fi. He enjoyed Bruce Lee and Kung Fu films, enjoyed music by Michael Jackson, and Star Wars, but his favorite of all-time to watch was Star Trek. A true Trekkie, Philip collected all sorts of Star Trek memorabilia throughout the years, he was an avid fan, for sure.

Although he had various interests in life, his greatest passions were for his Lord and his family. A great Christian man, Philip would help anyone he could. He was a family man that would take his children bike riding at the Gettysburg Battlefield, where they would always stop to visit Devil’s Den and Little & Big Round Top. The fondest of memories for his children were made there.

In addition to his late parents, Blaine McCauley Sr. and Stella Reynolds, Philip was preceded in death by his grandson, Jamie Hargrave, Jr.

Philip will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by those he leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Stella Hargrave (Jamie); son, Philip McCauley, Jr. (Kelly); daughter, Sarah Keefer (Steve); daughter, Candy Sue; sisters, Mary, Bea, and Linda; brother, Sonny; grandchildren, Jamie Hargrave, III, Arianna Hargrave, Marisa Hargrave, Emily Gillman, Brandy Gillman, Delilah McCauley, Hadley LeFevre, Everly McCauley, and Lyric Weaver; great-grandchildren, Carter Gillman, Ashton Bass, Laykin Horton, and Rosalie Horton; former wife of 21 years, Donna Bankert McCauley; numerous nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and friends.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Philip’s life was held in the chapel of Wrenn Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Pastor Mike Dunn officiated.

Arrangements are under the careful direction of Wrenn Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
