Patricia or Peggy as most called her was born February 16, 1942 in Weldon, NC to Woodrow and Nellie Shadrick who have preceded her in death.

Peggy was the third oldest of eight children and not to be outdone by her parents, Peggy had seven children of her own. Frankie who preceded her in death and Bryan, Melissa, Tabitha, Doug, Chad and Sonya survived by.

Ending up in Hope Mills, NC, she was a single mother and provided for her children by working full-time in a manufacturing plant sewing.

She could always count on her faith in God and siblings, David who preceded her in death, Betty, Bobbie, Judy, Linda, Jackie and Teresa — survived by — to fill in the gaps when needed financially and with inspiration to keep going.

In addition to working full-time and taking care of a house full of energetic school age children, she managed to go back to school and graduate obtaining her high school diploma.

In 1999, Peggy came home to Halifax County where most of her siblings, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren reside or live close by.

To her 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, Peggy is known as Nana and will be remembered by them for trips to McDonald’s after pre-school, playing catch, shopping and buying bright colored shirts, wearing funky color fingernail polish, long dangling earrings, rides around town just because and for her hair.

She called Bryan Long Term Care in Scotland Neck home for the last 8 years.

She made many new friends over the years at the nursing home that have grown to love her and she has grown to love. She enjoyed participating in activities with other residents such as playing BINGO, crafting, playing cards and listening to music. Peggy loved it when family and friends would come to visit most of all.

We will all remember Patricia – Peggy — Nana for her love for God, music, dance, beach trips with her sisters, family reunions at the lake, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Due to COVID-19 and NC state mandates, visitation will be for family only Friday, December 11, 2020 at Wrenn, Clarke and Hagan Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC.
