William “Knot” Macon Cook, Sr. 82, of Gaston, NC, peacefully passed away surrounded by his Family, Tuesday, August 11, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Cook was born in Northampton County, NC, the son of the late James Warren Cook, Sr. and Mary Moore Cook. He was preceded in death by his wife Dora Lee Cook. He was a farmer and retired from the NC Department of Corrections.

Surviving Mr. Cook are: three daughters, Darlene C. Maxwell and her significant other Eric Greene of Fountain, NC; Betty J. Carter of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Lisa Whitby Wall and her husband Tim of Whitakers, NC; a son, William Macon Cook, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC; six sisters, Jean Woodruff and her husband Lenn of Garysburg, NC, Barbara Gurley, Carolyn Rodwell and her husband David, all of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Linda Coker and her husband Greg of Lake Gaston, NC, Dorothy Bryan and her husband Jim, of Boone, NC , Cathy Dickens and her husband Michael of Roanoke Rapids, NC; three brothers, James “ Squeaky” Cook Jr. and wife Betty Rae, Roanoke Rapids, Charles “Tudy” Cook and wife Shirley of Skippers VA, Phillip Cook and wife Nancy of Gaston, NC; eight  grandchildren, Sonya Hollowell, Crystal Clements, Megan Buck, Kiara Carter, William “Scooter” Cook, Jennifer Cook, Steven Cook, Jacob Cook; twelve great grandchildren, special friend and caregiver Drucilla Porch and best friend Frank Harris; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 13, 2021, at 1:00 PM, in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, NC, with Rev. Bob Clyde officiating. The family will receive at the residence.
