Dallas Eugene Cashwell, 89, of Colonial Heights, VA, died Sunday, November 14, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Cashwell was born on January 19, 1932 in Halifax County, NC and was preceded in death by his parents Henry Clay Cashwell and Janie Culbreth Cashwell and brother Bruce Cashwell.

He served in the U. S. Army for over twenty years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. 

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his retirement from the Army, he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He was a lifetime member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church, Triplet, VA.

Mr. Cashwell loved fishing, playing cards, watching wildlife, feeding the birds, and spending time with family, friends, and his grand fur babies. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves, the Tar Heels, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Carolina Panthers.  

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Moore Cashwell;  daughters, Nevia Cashwell of Chesterfield, VA, Sandy Rishell (Eric), of Bridgewater, VA, Wanda Cashwell of Colonial Heights, VA,  sister Jean Moore of Triplet, VA; brothers Howard Cashwell (Jean) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Billy Cashwell (Regina) of Benson, NC; and grandchildren, Bethany Rishell, Emily Rishell, Nathan Rishell, Christopher Rishell, Olivia Rishell, and Ian Rishell.  He was also a second Daddy, Granddaddy, and Great Granddaddy to many extended family members.

The family will receive at Wrenn Clarke & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service, 1015 West Fifth Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC, Friday, November 19, 2021, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.

Funeral services will be held at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 6072 Triplet Road, Lawrenceville, VA 23868, Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Kyle Bass and Rev. Larry House officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with Military Honors.
