Mildred Starke True, 79, of Pleasant Hill, NC, died Sunday, November 21, 2021, at her residence.

She was born in Sussex County, VA, the daughter of the late Edward Lee Starke and Bessie Proctor Starke. 

Her husband, William Henry “Red” True, Sr., preceded her in death. 

She and her husband owned and operated Red’s General Merchandise in Pleasant Hill for many years.

She was an active member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

Surviving are: two sons, Joseph Lee True and his wife, Jeanie, of Goose Creek, SC, William H. “Sam” True, Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Pleasant Hill, NC; a sister, Alice Bradley of Williamsburg, VA; a brother, Buck Starke of Emporia, VA; four grandchildren, Tamara Wilson, Meredith Morgan, Bryant True and Lindsey Byrum; eight great grandchildren and numerous extended family.

Memorial services will be held at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Richard Russell, officiating.
