William “Billy” Tanner, 67, died at his home Saturday, April 02, 2022.

Billy was born in Halifax County, NC, February 11, 1955, son to Richard Lee Tanner and the late Elsie Verdell Rowell Tanner. 

He was a devoted husband and father and dearly loved his family. 

Billy retired from the Paper Mill after 35 years of Service. 

In addition to his mother, Billy was preceded in death by his step children, Joie Appleton and Joshua Green; brother, John David Tanner and sister Bet Richardson.

Surviving is his wife of 24 years Karen E. Tanner; his father, Richard Lee Tanner; children, Michael Tanner, Shannon Golden and husband Scott, Lacey Tanner; step sons, Jeb Green, Job Green; and step daughter, Faith Taylor; his siblings, Joann Murty and husband, Bubba, Nan Parrish and husband, Ken. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Ariel Tanner, Emerald Tanner, Hannah Golden, Braxton Golden, Sierra Hall, September Appleton, Isabella Appleton, Evan Green, Noah Green, Frankie Scott, Sofia Taylor, Monica Green, Elan Robinson and Gabriel Hall. 

Minister Jason Yeatts will conduct a graveside service in the Rowell-Thompson Family Cemetery Tuesday, April 05, 2022 at 11:00 am.
