On Thursday night Roanoke Rapids struck back with a 6-5 win.

Jake Van Dam picked up the win on the mound for the Yellow Jackets.  He pitched 6 2/3 innings and striking out 7 batters.  Ethan Vincent picked up the save by striking out the final batter to end the game.

Leading Hitters for the Yellow Jackets were Carson Neal, AJ Strickland, Trevor Harrison, Bennett Liverman, Jacob Deberry, and Cameron Wilson all with 2 hits each.  Colin Long also picked up a hit for RRHS.

Coach Mark Snead stated, "On Wednesday, we wasted some strong pitching from Bennett and Trevor.  We just seemed a little off all night.  We just couldn't put things together offensively or defensively.   So after the game we had a talk about playing as a team and coming together as a family, and it seemed to light a spark in our guys.  On Thursday we came out aggressive and were really lifting up each other with our word and actions.  Jake and Ethan pitched very well and our offense put some runs on the board to help seal the victory.  I am really proud of how the guys responded and played."

RRHS now stands at 7-4 overall and 6-3 in the Northern Carolina Conference.  The next scheduled game for the Yellow Jackets will be a home contest on Tuesday April 9 against Warren County.  Game time is set for 6pm.
