Halifax Native Jeff Buckner retired Thursday from JTG Daugherty Racing team after 31 full time years in NASCAR as mechanic.
With numours years of dirt and late model racing involvement, Buckner volunteered in the late 70's for the late Nascar driver and team owner Cecil Gordon. If there is a job at a NASCAR racing shop, Buckner has done it over the years. Suspension specialist has touted with shop Forman, crew chief, race weekend crew and all around mechanic.
From Gordon's team, Buckner went on to work at such teams as Hermie Sadler Racing, Dale Earnhardt Incorporate, Grubb Motorsplet's, Kevin Harvick Incorporated and closed out his career at JTG Daugherty Racing.
Buckner stated, "I want to thank a lot of people, I learned so much from being around great people really had a good time we’re able to work with some of the best drivers in the sport which was a honor not really sure about this next gen car but I wish all success in them I think it will be a big learning time."
