RRPD blotter: July 21-23

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

July 21

At approximately 6:45 p.m., Officer Jamie Hardy responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention told Hardy Tila-Jean Elizabeth Burdick, 22, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items from the store without paying for them.

Hardy arrested and charged Burdick with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

She was given a $300 bond and an August 14 court date.

July 22

At approximately 9 a.m., Master Officer Gorton Williams responded to a larceny call at Clearfield Drive.

The victim told Williams someone stole several checks out of a checkbook.

Investigation by Williams led to the identification of Sterling Michael Holcomb Jr., 24, of Roanoke Rapids.

Holcomb allegedly cashed the checks at a local business.

Williams arrested and charged Holcomb for two counts of larceny, two counts obtaining property by false pretense and two counts of possession of stolen goods.

Holcomb was given a $4,000 bond and a September 4 court date.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett and Sergeant Mike Moseley responded to assist a person retrieving property following a domestic dispute.

During the matter, Moseley discovered Antonio Lamont Baker, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, had a handgun inside the residence.

Investigation revealed Baker was a convicted felon and the gun was reported stolen.

Moseley arrested and charged Baker with possession of a handgun by felon and possession of a stolen firearm.

Baker was given a $50,000 bond and a September 9 court date.

City County Drug Task Force Agent Cory Dixon and Officer Adam Salmon assisted.

July 23

At approximately 1:15 p.m., Williams responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention told Williams Cora Lee Edwards, 53, of Weldon, allegedly took items from the store without paying for them.

Williams arrested and charged Edwards with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

She was given a $500 bond and an August 18 court date.

At approximately 5 p.m., Williams and Officer Jeffrey Mason responded to a call at Walmart about counterfeit money.

Walmart staff told the officers Erick Maas Hunt, 19, of Durham, allegedly exchanged a counterfeit $100 bill for change.

Mason arrested and charged Hunt with uttering a forged instrument and possession of a counterfeit instrument.

He was given a $5,000 bond and an August 5 court date.
