A Garysburg man who is listed as an absconder by the state Department of Public Safety was charged today in Emporia for warrants related to a February armed robbery over a hover board in Roanoke Rapids.

Romande Parker, 22, was also served warrants from Alamance County for assault on a female and warrants from Northampton County for violation of probation, Lieutenant Charles Vaught of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said this afternoon.

Parker was jailed without opportunity for bond and has a July 18 court date in Halifax County. He was served an additional Halifax County warrant for shoplifting, Vaught said.

Court dates for Parker in Alamance and Northampton have not yet been posted to the state court system website.

In a statement, Roanoke Rapids Chief Chuck Hasty said Parker was arrested around 8:30 this morning by Emporia police and was extradited to Roanoke Rapids.

For the armed robbery involving the hover board, Parker faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy, possession of stolen goods, and aggravated assault, Hasty said in the statement.

Vaught said the robbery was solely about taking possession of the hover board. “It's all about the hover board.”

Parker is the third person to be arrested in the case, which occurred on February 1 in the 1100 block of Jefferson Street.

The victim was allegedly approached by Parker, Devin Johnston, 17, and Sejuan Pitt, 18. Johnston and Pitt are both from Roanoke Rapids.

When the victim refused to comply with the demands of the three, they reportedly demanded the device at gun point.

Johnston and Pitt were arrested that evening.
