The arrests of two boys in a string of vehicle break-ins in and around the Lakeview Park area effectively ends the investigation, Halifax County Sheriff’s Office detectives said today.

The arrests of 16-year-old Demonte Teshan Lee and a 15-year-old juvenile coincide with the arrest last month of Nashiem Malik Smith, who also faces lodged by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
The latest arrests in the case came from further investigation by detectives Robert Hale and R.B. Biggerstaff, Chief Deputy Scott Hall said in a statement.
Lee was arrested Friday at his residence by Biggerstaff.
Biggerstaff said those charged are friends and two of them are related.
Both Hale and Biggerstaff said a wide range of items were taken in the break-ins — firearms, clothing, spare change, cash and electronics including cameras and laptops.
The break-ins occurred along areas of West Tenth Street, Bolling Road and the Lakeview Park area.
Hale said while the arrests tie everything up, detectives are still trying to locate the stolen property.
Lee was charged with with 12 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, four counts of larceny, two counts of larceny of a firearm, two counts of injury to personal property and one count of breaking and entering.
He received a $9,000 secured bond and has a first appearance set for Wednesday.
The juvenile was petitioned on the same charges.
