The Roanoke Rapids girls soccer team advanced to the Eastern Regional championship final four in an overtime win over Carrboro this evening at Hoyle Field.

This is the furthest a Lady Yellow Jackets soccer team has ever advanced in its history.

The Yellow Jackets won the game in the final 10 seconds on a goal by Veronica Edmonds.

Roanoke Rapids held Carrboro to a scoreless tie in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets scored first in the second half on a penalty kick by Chloe Wilson but the Jaguars immediately responded on a free kick by Emily Houser to tie the game.

The Jaguars took the lead on a penalty kick by Houser.

It wasn’t until the buzzer in regulation that Edmonds scored the goal that sent the game into overtime.

The teams battled it out until 10 seconds left in overtime when Edmonds secured the winning goal for the Jackets.

The Jackets are scheduled to play Tuesday at home against the winner of the Clinton-Swansboro game.

The time is to be determined.
