The victim in a Wednesday night domestic shooting has been treated and released from medical care, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office reported this morning.

“The victim is in good condition and resting well at home,” Major Scott Hall said in a statement.

The shooting occurred on Sedum Lane off Highway 903 and Everette's School Road around 6:30 p.m.

Investigators learned the woman called 911 after she was shot while driving away from an argument with her boyfriend, who was identified as Joshua Tristan Arrington, 30, of Roanoke Rapids.

Arrington allegedly shot the woman with a handgun. Her child was in the rear seat of the vehicle but was not injured..

Deputies located Arrington at the scene and took him into custody.

Arrington is charged with two counts of attempted murder, discharging a weapon into occupied property and injury to personal property.

He was jailed without the opportunity for bond and has a December 4 court date.
