A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested Saturday after allegedly using his vehicle to assault three acquaintances in another vehicle.

The matter was fueled by an earlier altercation that was reported late Friday night on Highway 48 and the Hyacinth Lane area, Detective Obert Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said.

Wiltsie said most of those involved in the earlier altercation were reportedly intoxicated.

Major Alston, 25, was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of injury to property.

He was arrested around 1 p.m. Saturday without problem and given a $2,500 bond.

He was assigned an August 13 court date.

Those involved in the assault were not badly injured, Wiltsie said.
