The introductory portion of a lawsuit challenging the three-district school configuration in Halifax County “reads more like a press release for political purposes,” than an actual legal document, the attorney representing the county commissioners wrote in a motion to dismiss the action.

RRPD blotter: October 30-November 1, 2015

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Halifax County Superior Court for Tuesday will be held in the old district courtroom in the Historic Courthouse after water inundated the superior courtroom on Ferrell Lane.

A shooting in the parking lot of the Roanoke Rapids Theatre Sunday morning during a private event left one person injured.

Two men were arrested and nearly 52 grams of marijuana was seized late Saturday night as Halifax County Sheriff's Office deputies were responding to a shots fired call on Silvertown Road in the Enfield area.
