Captain Tyree Davis said Derrick Devon Hilliard is considered armed and dangerous and tends to frequent the Enfield areas of Fishing Creek Road, Beaverdam Road and areas within town.

Just before midnight Officer A. Rojas responded to Freedom Street Apartments off Franklin Street on a call a man was shot multiple times.

The officer determined the shooting took place in the parking lot of a local business, which was closed for the evening.

Rojas and Corporal C. Dickens of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office secured the scene and contacted the state Bureau of Investigation for processing.

Rojas, Sergeant Roy Rooks, Davis and Chief Willie Tillery investigated and determined Hilliard, of Fishing Creek Road, was the alleged shooter.

They also determined there was a second shooting victim. One victim was treated and released at the scene and another was transported to a medical facility and later released.

Rojas obtained warrants for the arrest of Hilliard on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats.
