Trooper T.D. “Bo” Forsht, who assisted Corn on the stop, said Coe was driving a 2008 Ford Ranger with Georgia plates and was not wearing his seat belt.
The man, later identified through further investigation as Coe, 19, of Cummins, Georgia, told Corn he didn't have a drivers license and initially gave the trooper a false name.
Because the man had no license, Corn placed Coe under arrest and later determined the vehicle was stolen from Georgia, Forsht said.
Continued investigation led to Coe's identification and that he was wanted by different agencies for a probation violation, theft and burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and escape by an inmate from a probation boot camp.
Georgia TV station WMGT reported last week Coe was being held at the Al Burruss jail in Forsyth at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center on theft, burglary, and parole violation charges. Coe was last seen around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Coe indicated to Corn after the arrest he was passing through the area while on the run, Forsht said.
Forsht, who served as Corn's training officer, said, “Due to the defendant not having any ID, Trooper Corn had a feeling there might be more to it. Being a proactive officer, he arrested him and investigated until he determined the truth of the matter.”
Corn charged Coe with no operators license, a seat belt violation and resist, delay, and obstruct an officer.
He was being held on $500,000 bond and is awaiting extradition proceedings.
