Desired qualifications:

Must have High School Diploma or GED

Must be able to obtain a North Carolina or Virginia Class B driver’s license within 90 days of employment

Street Superintendent – Public Works Department

An employee in this class supervises the operations of the Streets Section in the construction, maintenance, and repair of street, sidewalks, street & traffic signs and markings, buildings and ground, right-of-ways, drainage facilities, cemetery and yard wastes. Work involves the supervision of employees and several crews engaged in a variety of street maintenance activities, drainage, and street signage.

The employee advises the Public Works Director and Public Works Assistant Director on street projects and on-going activities of the Section and handles citizen complaints.

Desirable Education & Experience

Graduation from high school and four year degree from accredited college and/or considerable supervisory experience in street construction and maintenance, equipment operation and maintenance; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must hold a valid NC Driver’s License.

Administrative Support Assistant I (Records Division) - RR Police Department

An employee in this class must possess the following abilities:

Must be able to perform administrative, clerical, and record-keeping duties.

Must have thorough knowledge of Office Management Procedures.

Must be currently certified in DCI (Division of Criminal Information) or meet the criteria to become certified within 6 months of employment.

Must have the ability to multi-task

Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Must have a good understanding of NC Public Information Laws.

Must possess good computer and word processing skills.

Must have excellent customer service skills.

Must possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with other departments,

employees, and the general public.
