Richard Scott, a Republican from Scotland Neck, has filed to run for the District 4 North Carolina Senate seat.

Scott filed Monday.

Angela Bryant, a Rocky Mount Democrat who filed last week, is the incumbent in that race.

In other filings Monday, Carolyn Johnson and Marcelle Smith, both incumbents on the Halifax County Board of Commissioners, will seek to retain their seats.

Johnson, of Littleton, will be running for her District 1 seat while Smith, of Scotland Neck, will be running for his District 2 seat.

Filing for the March 15 primary continues through December 21.
