The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Friday, December 11, 2015

At approximately 9:30 p.m., Officer Ariel Burgess conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Madison Street.

Burgess determined the driver, Tymekia Lakesha Hamilton, 37, of Roanoke Rapids, was impaired. Burgess arrested and charged Hamilton with driving while impaired.

She was released to a responsible person until her court date on January 11.

Sergeant Richie White and Master Officer Gerald Morris assisted.

Saturday December 12, 2015

At approximately 2 a.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to a call about people inside a vehicle waving guns where a victim was assaulted.

Smith located the vehicle in the area and conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of Sheetz.

During the stop officers located three guns inside.

They arrested and charged Dajuan Devonte Davis, 21, and Fabian Devant’e Sexton, 23, both of Woodland, with carrying a concealed weapon.

Davon’ta Percell Bellfield, 20, of Weldon, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

All received $1,000 bonds and have January 8 court dates.

Lieutenant Charles Burnette, White, and Officer Ryan Cross assisted.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Officer Matt Hunsucker responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Christina Brooke Stevenson, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items without paying.

Hunsucker cited Stevenson for shoplifting and she was released until her January 8 court date.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., Officer Chris Biggerstaff attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a traffic violation at West Fifth and Henry streets.

The vehicle fled and Biggerstaff pursued it on Madison Street.

The pursuit continued on Preston Street, Jackson Street Extension, and Highway 48 into Northampton County and then onto Interstate 95 where the vehicle stopped and the driver and passenger were taken into custody.

Biggerstaff arrested and charged the driver, Dexter Leevon Terry Jr., 30, of Newport News, with possession of schedule VI, possession of schedule II, fleeing to elude arrest, driving while license revoked and careless and reckless driving.

The passenger, Xaviera Sherrice Greene-Davis, 38, of Newport News, was arrested and charged with with possession of schedule VI, possession of schedule II and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.

Terry received a $5,000 bond and Greene-Davis a $2,500 bond. Both have December 16 court dates.

Lieutenant Bruce Norton and Master Officer Mark Peck of Roanoke Rapids; Northampton County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant William James and Deputy Chris Exum; Gaston Police Department Sergeant Tommy Staton and North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper Thayer D. “Bo” Forsht assisted.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Smith responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Goldwyn Mayo III, 49, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items with paying.

Smith arrested and charged Mayo for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

He received a $500 bond and January 8 court date.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Smith responded to an assault call in the parking lot of Motel 6.

The victim reported Albert Junior Walker, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, assaulted them and took their cell phone.

Smith obtained warrants on Walker for common law robbery and assault on a female.

Hasty said Walker is encouraged to take care of these matters and surrender.

Sunday December 13, 2015

At approximately noon, Hunsucker responded to a larceny call at Food Lion on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Store staff reported Amy Lynn Hall, 48, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly took items without paying.

Hunsucker arrested and charged Hall for shoplifting.

She received a $250 bond and a January 8 court date.

Officer Jason Williams assisted.
