After a successful fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Halifax, Sheriff Wes Tripp will hold a second one to help three organizations which serve children.

The next fundraiser, scheduled for January 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at old Halifax EMS station on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway, will be a pork chop plate sale.

The proceeds from this effort will benefit Mildred Moore who runs an after-school outreach in Scotland Neck; Florine Bell who runs the Lincoln Heights Community Center and Doris Mack who runs Families Supporting Families on Roanoke Avenue.

“It's all about the children,” Tripp said today. “The children are our future and we need to do what we can to help our community.”

Tripp's thoughts on helping the community go beyond the past fundraiser he held, the one coming up and the ones he is planning for the future. They apply to all held in the Roanoke Valley regardless of sponsorship, he said. “This is what makes the Roanoke Valley a great place to live and raise children — for the many acts of kindness shown each other. There's several fundraisers going on and we encourage others to participate. What better way to help someone.”

For an $8 donation, there is a plate with two pork chops, snap beans, potatoes and a roll. It is a pickup and delivery event.

Tripp and Major Scott Hall will do the cooking.

For tickets call Tripp at 252-58-6761.
