RRPD blotter: February 7-10, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Sunday February 7, 2016

At approximately 3 a.m., Officer Joey Spragins was monitoring traffic on Old Farm Road and Becker Drive when he noticed a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit.

Spragins conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Sarah Unique Hyman, 32, of Roanoke Rapids.

Spragins determined Hyman was impaired and her license revoked.

He arrested and charged her with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked and possession of an open container.

Hyman was released to a responsible person and has a March 11court date.

Officer Patrick Smith assisted.

Monday February 8, 2016

At approximately 11 a.m., Investigators G.L. Williams and Chris Babb served outstanding warrants for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, breaking and entering, larceny, trespassing and damage to property from August 8, 2015.

The charges stem from a call received around 8 a.m. at the Carolina Inn.

The victim told Williams Devone Robinson forced his way into his room and assaulted him with a knife.

Robinson fled the area and was taken into custody in Henrico County, Virginia, on August 21, 2015. Robinson received a $40,000 bond and a March 16 court date. He was also served with several outstanding orders for arrest.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Officer Jamie Hardy responded to a larceny at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Brittany Alexis Holland, 18, of Roanoke Rapids, took items.

Hardy cited Holland for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

She was released until her February 26 court date.

Wednesday February 10, 2016

At approximately 12:34 p.m., Hardy received information about drug activity in the 500 block of Walnut Street.

During the investigation Hardy cited Morante Tremayne Brown, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, with possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brown was released until his February 26 court date.

Lieutenant Perry Parks and Officer Scott Blythe assisted.

At approximately 3 p.m., Master Officer Roy Ball responded to a larceny call at Sears.

The victim told Halifax Central a person described as a white male took items and fled on a green vehicle with another person described as a white male driving.

City County Task Force agents Cory Dixon, Daniel Hundley and David McKeel located the vehicle and persons at the New Dixie Mart at the Zoo Road intersection.

Officers arrested and charged Justin Roger Nowell, 31, and Christopher Ryan Turner, 29, both of Roanoke Rapids, for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Nowell received a $2,000 bond and Turner a $3,000 bond.

Both have a February 26 court dates.

Hardy and Officer Greg Colson, along with the state Highway Patrol, assisted.

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Hardy responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Terry Benton Sykes, 59, of Whitakers, took items.

Hardy arrested and charged Sykes, who received an $800 bond and February 26 court date, with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Parks assisted.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., Lieutenant Bruce Norton was on routine patrol in the area of Becker Village Mall when he noticed a vehicle driving erratically.

The driver, Kimberly Denise Goins, 25, of Roanoke Rapids, was found to be impaired and charged with DWI.

She was released to a responsible person pending an April 11 court date.

Officers Jason Williams and Natara Velazquez assisted.
