A checking station in Enfield Sunday resulted in numerous citations, town police Chief Tyree Davis.

It was the first checking station he held since being named chief and more are expected.

“The Enfield Police department will be conducting many more crime prevention campaigns and checking stations like the one Sunday in the future,” he said in a statement. “With the summer months approaching we want the citizens to know that the Enfield Police Department will maintain strict enforcement when it comes to violating the law.”

Davis said the police department used its mobile command traffic enforcement trailer with assistance from Halifax County Sheriff's Office deputies J. Bozard and A. Holland.

The checking station was set up along Highway 301 near Highway 481.

The chief said during the checking station “the police department received numerous praises from people coming through. With the assistance and partnership with our citizens we will continue to be proactive in fighting crime and making Enfield a safer community.”
