RRPD blotter: July 1-2, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Friday July 1, 2016
At approximately 6:30 a.m., Investigator Gorton Williams responded to a report of a larceny at Walmart.
Loss prevention reported Devon Mayo, 21, of Roanoke Rapids, took items.
Williams arrested and charged Mayo with larceny, possession of stolen goods and two counts of trespassing. He also served Mayo two outstanding orders for arrests.
Mayo received a $2,300 bond and July 22 court date.
Williams learned through investigation Mayo was in the store on June 30, took items and ran from loss prevention. Investigation continues and more charges are expected to be filed against Mayo.
Officer Matt Hunsucker assisted.
At approximately 6 p.m., Officer Patrick Smith responded to a call of an unconscious person in a vehicle at a parking lot in the 500 block of Becker Drive.
Smith located the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Mark Jowers, 43 of Roanoke Rapids.
Smith noticed open containers of alcohol and a pipe containing a green substance.
Smith arrested and charged Jowers with possession of schedule VI, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of an open container.
Jowers received a $500 bond and August 26 court date.

Saturday July 2, 2016
At approximately 10 a.m., Smith responded to a call of a possible sexual assault.
The victim reported Marl Leonard Brown, 42, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly tried to sexually assault them.
Smith obtained warrants on Brown for attempted rape and kidnapping. He was also served an outstanding order for arrest for probation violation and received a $102,000 bond and August 26 court date.
Morris assisted.
