NOTICE OF MEETING

Roanoke Rapids Area Planning Board

Notice is hereby given that the Roanoke Rapids Planning Board will hold a public meeting Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall located at 700 Jackson Street to hear the following items and provide a recommendation to City Council:

1. A Zoning Map Amendment (rezoning) request from DM2 Engineering, PLLC (applicant) and Jane Renee Williams (property owner) to rezone a certain parcel located at E. 10th Street and Carolina Avenue from B-3, Commercial District to B-4, Commercial District. The property is identified as Halifax County Tax Parcel 0908656 and has an area of 0.41± acres. The certain parcel fronts 100 feet on the northeastern side of East 10th Street and runs back between parallel lines fronting 180 feet on Carolina Avenue. The parcel is undeveloped, vacant land and the requested B-4, Commercial District allows the widest range of commercial uses among the commercial districts.

2. Discussion of changes (text amendments) to the Roanoke Rapids Land Use Ordinance regarding the use of property for Electronic Gaming Operations:

a. Article X: Permissible Uses, Section 151-149 Table of Permitted Uses to consider the Use Designations in the Zoning Districts as a Permitted or Conditional Use for Electronic Gaming Operations (land use code 6.300); and
b. Article XI: Supplementary Use Regulations to consider changes to the location restrictions (separation distances).

Related information is available for public inspection in the Planning and Development office at the J. Reuben Daniel City Hall, 1040 Roanoke Avenue. Any persons, firms, organizations or corporations interested in this matter are urged to attend the meeting.

MUNICIPAL OFFICES CLOSED/TRASH COLLECTION: Municipal Offices will be closed on Friday, November 11, 2016 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Friday’s trash route will be collected on Wednesday, November 9th.
