Further investigation revealed Cierra Joyner, 20, of Roanoke Rapids, also had an outstanding order for arrest after failing to appear in Nash County court to answer to a speeding charge, Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said.
Hall said in a statement on the matter Captain Lisa Garris and Officer William Robertson reported to Sergeant Josh Langley a woman took a cell phone into the visitation room.
Robertson reportedly saw Joyner in the visitation room using the device despite posted signs prohibiting their use.
