Mrs. Pulley was born September 11, 1944 in Greensville County, Virginia to the late Thomas Lee and Virginia Belle Avent Newsome.
Mrs. Pulley loved her family, her many friends and her God. She was a very giving and forgiving person. She was the glue that held her family together. Mrs. Pulley was a hard working woman who worked at JP Stevens for 20 years, several sewing and garment factories in the area and WR Grace for a few years.
Mrs. Pulley is survived by her husband of 50 years Henry Pulley of the home; daughter: Norma Thomas of Roanoke Rapids; son: Mike Pulley and wife Lisa of Whitakers; three sisters: Mary Alice Cloy and husband Marvin of Jackson, SC, Nancy Moseley and husband “Bud” and Rosa Harris and husband “Buster” of Roanoke Rapids; Seven grandchildren: David Thomas, Jenni Thomas, Daniel King, Michael Pulley, Melissa Pulley, Wyatt Pulley and Lynda Pulley; three great grandchildren: Eli Pulley, Avery Shane Thomas and Emma Noel Thomas.
Funeral Services will be held2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in the Chapel at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Michael Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 7-9 pm at the funeral home and other times at the home of her sister, Rosa Harris, 200 E. 1st Street.
