Allene Beatrice Overton Holton departed this life on Thursday, July 13th, 2017, to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She lived her 98 years on this earth in a simple life, but left us an amazing legacy of love and Christian values.

Allene was artistic.  She was thrifty.  She had a remarkable toughness and tenacity in life.

She was stern at times, and she was stubborn when she needed to be, but her sternness and stubbornness were softened by a heart of kindness and grace.  She loved everybody, especially her family, and everybody loved her.  Her prayers for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be sorely missed.

Allene was born in Oxford, NC, the fourth of nine children of Joseph and Bertha Overton.

She later moved to Roanoke Rapids.

She married her husband, Roger Russell Holton, on April 11, 1941.  In the next eight years God blessed them with three children: a son, Roger Allen Holton, and two daughters, Shelia Jean Grosser and Karen Faye Cameron (deceased 12/12/1979).

They were married 41 years until Roger's death on November 30, 1982.

Allene had four grandchildren: Damien Ryder Storm, Autumn Karen Robinson, Mark Andrew Holton, and Dustin Roger Grosser.  She had four great-grandchildren: James Groce Yeats Robinson, Christian Jude Jean Robinson, Hermione Beatrice Rose Robinson (deceased 3/26/2015), and Virgil Thomas More Robinson.

Funeral services will be conducted by Wrenn, Clarke, and Hagan Funeral Home.  Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.  Funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at Roanoke Rapids Church of God, Pastor Jerry Waters presiding.  Interment will immediately follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.

Allene has requested that in lieu of flowers, she would rather contributions be made to Roanoke Rapids Church of God or to Community Home Care and Hospice.

Online condolences may be left at wrennclarkehagan.com.
