She was a member of New Life Christian Church and was retired from J. P. Stevens.  She was a member of the Roanoke Rapids Senior Citizens.  She loved bingo,  was a good cook,  a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.  She was loved by everybody and will be sorely missed.

Mrs. Hursey was born December 27, 1927, to the late Jimmy T. Starke and Ollie Pearl Starke, and was also predeceased by her husband, George Elbert Hursey.

She is survived by her son: Elbert “Punk” Hursey and wife, Arlene, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania; her daughters:  Gaynell H. Hogston, of Raeford,N. C., and Judy H. Pearson and her husband, Cecil, of Roanoke Rapids; her loving sister: Christine Powell, and her sisters-in-law: Frances Hursey, Eva Starke and Margie Starke, of Roanoke Rapids; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, from 7 – 8:30 P. M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. They will meet at other times at 908 Marshall Street and 668 Smith Church Road.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 A. M. at the funeral home with Billy Meinsen, Minister, officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
