Counterfeit money, marijuana and cocaine was seized late this afternoon following service of a search warrant in the 700 block of Vance Street.

Captain A.M. Harris of the City County Drug Task Force said Agent D.W. McKeel will do a follow-up investigation on the two $20 bills seized from the wallet of Thomas Anthony Thompson.

That investigation is likely to determine how Thompson, 29, came in possession of the money.

Harris said the bills seized were not movie money, something used in an August counterfeit case.

During the search of the residence, agents seized about 2 grams of cocaine and 10 grams of marijuana.

Harris said the search warrant was based on drug complaints in the area.

Agents and Roanoke Rapids police Officer M.J. Hunsucker executed the search warrant around 5 p.m.

With assistance from Agent D.R. Radford and his dog, Tony, the cocaine, marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia were seized.

McKeel arrested and charged Thompson with felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possess marijuana up to one-half ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of a counterfeit instrument.

He received a $20,000 bond with an October 25 court date.

Citizens may call Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or log on to www.halifaxsheriff.com to report any drug activity.
