Edith Vashti Bradley

Edith Vashti Bradley, 83, of Pikeville, N. C., formerly of Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

Mrs. Bradley was a former member and dearly loved her church family at Lakeview Park Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.  She was a very caring person, a caretaker to all, and she ran the Assisted Living her own way. She dearly loved children and loved keeping them.

She was born February 24, 1927, to the late Richard Weaver and Rosa Beatrice Chambliss Weaver.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Simms Bradley; her sisters, Margaret McCann, and Mabel Lee; her brothers, Herman Weaver, Lloyd Weaver, and Robert Henry Weaver.

She is survived by her daughters:  Lynn Bradley of Lucama, and Sheila Bradley Pittman and her husband, Wade, of Wilson, N. C.; her sister, Atlee Gordon, of Roanoke Rapids; her brothers-in-law, Clinton Bradley and wife, Lorene, of Emporia, Virginia, Earl Bradley and wife, Emily, of Yorktown, Virginia, and Mack Bradley and his wife, Eunice, of Roanoke Rapids; her sisters-in-law, Hazel  Conn, of Emporia, Virginia, and Mary Sue Bradley of Hopewell, Virginia; her grandchildren: Rusty Pittman and wife, Renee, Amy Faris and her husband James, of Wilson; Katrina Watkins Forbes of Wake Forest; great-grandchildren, Dante Pittman, Bryton Faris, Katie Gates, Jacob Page and Ellie Page; and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 13, 2011, at 3:30 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service  in Roanoke Rapids which is handling the arrangements, conducted by Pastor Leonard Smith, Associate Pastor Carl Massey, and Minister Jerome Williams.  Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids on Monday, February 14, 2011, at 2 P.M.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday, February 13, 2011, prior to the funeral service.
