The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office this evening confirmed an apparent murder-suicide which occurred in the Hollister community earlier in the day.

Sheriff Wes Tripp said a woman was found deceased and another woman was found seriously injured around 4:30 p.m.

Witnesses at the scene provided deputies with a name of a possible male suspect in the case, who was the husband of the woman found deceased. Tripp declined comment on the relationship between the seriously injured woman and the husband and wife.

When deputies arrived at the residence of the alleged suspect they found him deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigation, the sheriff said in a statement, indicates there were ongoing domestic issues between the husband and wife, who he declined to name in the statement and in a follow up interview this evening.

He declined to go into details of the shootings or what kind of weapon was used.

The seriously injured woman was transferred to an undisclosed medical facility.
