Garysburg man charged with fentanyl possession

A Garysburg man was charged with counts related to fentanyl possession following a Thursday traffic stop.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said in a statement Officer R. Cross made the stop around 5:15 p.m. for a violation he observed near the intersection of East Tenth Street and Georgia Avenue.

Cross used his canine Midas who indicated for the presence of narcotics.

The driver, Marcus Lamont Winborne, 27, was found in possession of fentanyl and paraphernalia.

Cross arrested and charged Winborne with possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule I, possession of schedule I, maintaining a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, prescription label not present and a window tint violation.

Hasty said approximately 3 grams of fentanyl was seized.

Winborne received a $5,000 bond and July 18 court date.
