Richmond E. Lynch

Richmond E. Lynch, son of the late Andrew W. and Minnie Edwards Lynch, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his home.  He was preceded in death also by his first wife, Carol Metzger.

Born March 1, 1933, in Roanoke Rapids, he was a 1951 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School.  He was always witty and kept something funny going.  He loved life, parties, his family, friends, his three dogs, Duke, Shamus, and Benji, and being in a boat on the lake.  As he aged he enjoyed being at home and remarked to people that he used to be the first to arrive at a party and the last to leave. When he graduated from high school he enrolled and attended the University of North Carolina until he was drafted in the Army in 1953 and served in Germany for two years.

His survivors will miss him—they include his wife, Patsy Ennis Menter Lynch of the home; one son, Richmond E. Lynch, II, of Roanoke Rapids; one daughter, Lorraine Lynch of Littleton; a stepson, Troy Menter and wife, Joedy, of Clarksville, Iowa; three stepdaughters: Lisa Williams and husband, Tim, of Baxter, Iowa, Errin Bohlke and husband Dan, of Marshalltown, Iowa, Ashley Allen and husband, Tom, of Asheville, N. C.; and a granddaughter, Samantha Ann, and five grandsons: Sean  Williams, Derek Bohlke,Grant Bohlke, Ryan Menter and Sam Allen.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March  26, 2011, at 3:00 P. M. at Grace Episcopal Church in Weldon, conducted by Rev. Ben Duffey.  Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
