Mrs. Lassiter attended William R. Davie School and Roanoke Rapids High School. She attended The Church of Jesus Christ for more than 24 years, and in her early life was raised at Gum Chapel Pentecostal Holiness with Pastor Lizzie Polston. She worked as a waitress, Social Service receptionist and volunteer, and was an EMT and dispatched for Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad, and also worked for the Daily Herald.
She was the only child of the late Oscar B. and Louise N. Love, born on June 25, 1948. Also preceding her in death was a son, Jamie Lynn Lassiter; a cousin who was like a sister, Molly Neal Askew; numerous uncles and aunts, and a special cousin, George Norwood, Jr. and three special pets, Bo-Bo, Samantha and Gypsy.
She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Grant Lassiter; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela Quinton Fahey and Mike Fahey; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Douglas Williams and Diane; her grandchildren, Rami Yousef and fiancée, Holly; Jessica Renée Fahey and fiancé, David and Kristin Renée Williams; Michael Lawrence Fahey (Mikey) and fiancée, Candace; eight great-grandchildren: Jason Balmer, Emma Balmer, Kimberly Borges, Kayley Collins, Michael Fahey, Jr., Joseph Grayson Fahey, Julia Balmer and Natalie Fahey; a special aunt, Juanita Love; two special cousins, Ronald Garrett and Gloria Giddens; and several cousins all of whom she loved. Special thanks to Madie Higgins for being that friend and prayer partner through all of her sicknesses and whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 27, 2011, at 3:00 P.M. at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Norwood Starling officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, March 26, from 7:00 to 9:00 P. M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements. They will meet other times at the home of her daughter at 401 Monroe Street.
