Joseph Randolph Williams

Joseph Randolph Williams, 84, of  Halifax, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at his home.

Mr. Williams was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and an avid golfer.  He attended the Roanoke Rapids Church of God.  Before starting his own business he worked at Harding and Grizzard for years.  He was a respected businessman and owner/operator of Roanoke Auto Parts.  He was a 32  Degree Mason and Past Master of Widow Son Lodge 519; a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Enfield, and member of Sudan Temple of New Bern.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Wilder Williams, of the home; his children: Randy Neal Williams and wife, Helen; Renee Williams Spain and husband, Millard; Rhonda Rigsby and husband, Mark; his step-children: Grady Neal, Jr. and Cindy White and husband, Lawrence, all of Roanoke Rapids; his sister, Ruth Moss and husband, Richard, of Gasburg, Virginia, and his brother, Troy Williams and wife, Mary, of Temple Texas; his grandchildren; Bradford Lee Wilder, Michelle Williams, Jennifer Williams Harris, Sarah Williams, Garrett Williams, Jessee Rigsby, Sydney Rigsby; two step-grandchildren: Grady Neal, III, and Samantha Meeks; his great-grandchildren: Taylor Harris, Madison Davis and Katie Handy; his niece, Debra Heese, and nephew, Drew Williams.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Roanoke Rapids Church of God at 10 A. M. conducted by Rev. Michael Mooneyham and Rev. Marvin Wiggins.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements
