Mrs. Birdsong was born July 21, 1942, to the late Edward Clinton Ellis and Dorothy Kidd Ellis of Gasburg, VA.  She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Gwyn Ellis and Nancy Ellis of LaCrosse, VA.

She  is survived by her husband, Bobby Birdsong, of the home; her daughters, Luci B. Spence and husband, Ben, and children Kelci and Rymon Spence of Broadnax , Virginia, and Kelli B. Cifers and husband, Harvey, Jr., and children Ciara and Hunter Cifers of Emporia; and special devoted friends, Al Joyner and Connie Scott.

Funeral sevices will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Minister Greg Hand officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home, 1451 E. Chaloner Drive. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
