Pedestrian stop nets cocaine arrest

A Roanoke Rapids man was charged with cocaine possession and paraphernalia counts Saturday while walking in Weldon.

Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that canine Deputy Jason Keeter arrested Edward Kenneth Brace, 54, after he spotted him walking along Country Club Road near Stuart Circle in Weldon around 3:30 a.m.

After a search, the deputy charged him. He was jailed on $1,000 secured bond and has a September 4 court date.
